About Us
Ted is arguably Hong Kong's best-known English language media personality having hosted radio and television programmes in the territory for over 30 years and written extensively for newspapers and magazines. In 1973 he founded Corporate Communications Ltd (CCL). It has become Hong Kong's oldest and one of the most active media consultancys around today. He is also active as a publisher, having published over 100 titles in recent years. As a pioneer in media training, Ted has coached people ranging from Colonial Governors, Police Commissioners, bankers, businessmen, diplomats and professionals, including lawyers, architects and accountants in having the skills to handle the media. Prior to establishing Corporate Communications Ltd. (CCL) Ted Thomas was a senior broadcaster at RTHK, the government broadcasting station, and was later promoted to Head of Publicity and Promotions at the Government Information Services Department. This led to Ted's development of his own public relations consultancy, focusing on the use of media to initiate and reinforce messages to the public. Ted Thomas is involved in a number of organisations here in Hong Kong including: The HK Press Club, The Guild of Professional Writers and Broadcasters, The Foreign Correspondents' Club, The Hong Kong Club, The Media Advisory Group International (MAGI), and he set up the Hong Kong branch of The Wig & Pen Club. He has been a member of the panel of judges for the Annual PR Awards organised by PRWeek magazine. Ted was born and educated in England and is a permanent resident of Hong Kong.
Barry has been with CCL for over 10 years, joining in the summer of 1995 and handles the company's finances. He is also a partner with a local accounting firm (Abbey International Accountancy Limited). Barry previously worked in Los Angeles as a General Manager for a multi-national firm for over 10 years. During his time in the U.S, he was also a partner with accounting firm (Li, Leung ,Lau & Co.). Barry has a Bachelor of Management degree from the University of Lethbridge in Canada and is a Qualified Industrial Accountant of Canada. He has a special interest in stock investment. He speaks both Cantonese and English.
Adrian joined CCL in 2002 to take charge of the company's growing publishing business. CCL regularly secure's sponsors for publishing biographies, fiction and non-fiction titles and he plays a key role in securing sponsors for those publications. Adrian received his BA degree in Economics from St John's University, Minnesota, USA, and his MBA from the University of Minnesota. Adrian began his career in banking at Manufacturers Hanover Asia. He also worked for Banque Paribas (BNP), Dean Witter, and Commerzbank. He then went on to work at Bloomberg, and helped start their Asia ex-Japan operations in Hong Kong, and at Reuters where he was a key member of the product development team that launched the first unit-trust information tool targeted for the fund-management industry in Asia. Fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Adrian is also heavily involved in organising the Photographer of the Year Awards, held annually at the Foreign Correspondents' Club in Hong Kong.
Hardy has been with CCL since 1997 and has built up a long list of clients who make use of his skills as a first class document translator and as a trainer for presentations, media handling and public speaking. These are invaluable serves for CCL and our clients. Hardy is also the director of Abbey Forum, providing those services to corporate clients such as SINOPEC, AT&T, China Travel Service (HK), Hitachi Data System, and the Hong Kong Police. Prior to joining CCL, Hardy was a senior consultant with Black Isle Communication and a manager in both Hong Kong & Macau of an international training programme owned by International Hotel and Restaurant Association where he provided training services across the Asia Pacific region. Hardy had previously been an educational instructor for the British Army and worked with the Hong Kong Tourist Association. Hardy holds an MBA from the International University of San Fransico, USA, and is also a certified trainer of Super Host, the international training programme from Canada. Hardy speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Vilma Aquino joined CCL in 1998 and performed the dual roles of personal assistant to the Chief Executive and as the Office Manager. She previously worked as a ticketing clerk at a Hong Kong Travel Agency. She took up a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy degree at the University of Panagasinan in the Phillipines before transferring to the Associate in Office Management course in the Asia Career College. Vilma also received her Secretarial Practice II certificate from the Sara Beattie College in Hong Kong, in January 2005. Vilma speaks both Tagalog and English as well as basic Cantonese. |
